Some return and others leave

Peggy and family left this morning to go to Utah and see Alan. I wish I had more time off and could go with them. Yumi and Ryo came home from Japan last weekend and are having a party this Saturday to share their experiences with us all. They came over on Monday night and brought us gifts from their parents. Kosue wrote a letter that made me cry. I hate the fact that I have friends in an other country that I cannot write to or speak to. How can you build a bond between friends without that kind of contact? It really breaks my heart and makes me feel sad and ashamed.
Beau invited us to go to Laughs last night. We had a wonderful time. I love stand up comedy. The last guy was the best I am going out on the web to find his cd.
Matt is returning home from Spain today. Hopefully we will get to see him at Yumi's tomorrow. We are going out to the field tonight to stay so we can get up tomorrow and help them build a building. Then around 2:00pm we will need to get ready to go to a House Warming party for a friend from work. Denzel gets to take his guitar and jam with some new musicians. I will give you a update on how that goes. Then about 6:30 pm or 7:00 we need to head to Yumi's and Ryo's Party. Sunday will be spent working on the front yard landscaping and fixing the airconditioning in the Suburban.

July 4th Weekend is going to rock

On the home front Brian, Peggy's son is graduating on Thursday! We are all so proud of him! He will be taking a trip to California next week. Denzel and I just bought a 27ft 5th wheel travel trailer which we are trying to get ready to take to Colorado for the holiday! It is HUGE. We need to get a 5th wheel hitch installed in our truck bed! So tonight we are dropping off the truck to get it done. We have started spending more and more time in our trailer and really needed more room. We have cleaned all of our stuff out of the little trailer and have it in our top lot with a For Sale sign. Peggy and Family are heading to Utah for a Family reunion during the weekend of the 24th. Work has been busy and we are re-landscaping our front yard! In between all of these things we think of you and miss you. Have lots of fun!

Happy BirthMonth!!!!!!

Well, at last it is the time of year I love.......BirthMonth! Tomorrow is Denzel's Birthday! We will be picking Griffin up at the airport at 6:30 pm. I work tomorrow and then I am off until the 24th! Yeah! We are busy with the planning and preparing for Yumi's Graduation Party. She called me last night to let me know that she had just taken her last final exam. This is such an exciting time for her, how wonderful that we get to celebrate it with her. Mothers Day was last Sunday, I got a beautiful card from my children in Wyoming. Yumi & Ryo come over to visit and brought me a beautiful card and the some candles that smell yummy. I will be bubble bathing with those lite during my vacation. Ahhhhhhh. I also got to talk with Jason and Chris for a while. I miss spending time with them. May is one crazy birthmonth. First we have Jessica (Cheryl's daughter) on the 11th (same day as my mothers)this year she is a teenager. Poor Cheryl. Then we have Denzel on the 13th. My friend Linda at work is on the 14th. Denzel's mother Naomi was on the 15th. Kayoko, Junko's mother, is on the 16th. The 16th is also the offcial 2 year Anniversary for Chris and Junko of their marriage in Japan. They have 2 other dates 1 for the Japan celebration and 1 for the American celebration. Griffin's mother was born on May 17th 1923. Suzanne on the 20th, so is Cher. Our friends Lee and Lori got married on the 20th in 1987. My friend Melissa at work was born on the 23rd. And last but not least Griffin and Nobuko were born on the 28th. I am a card sending fool in May and you throw a Graduation Party in there and it makes for a busy month. The party lights will be lite many times this month. I love it!

Just rambling

Denzel has been very busy at work so he comes home dead tired. I have been sitting down all day so I would enjoy a bit more activity after work. I have started doing exercises with a ball. They are fun but I am kind of a Klutz. I know exercise is the only way to lose these last 10 pounds.
I am meeting with Yumi on Sunday to plan her graduation party...fun, fun, fun!
Then before I know it Griffin will be here to celebrate our birth-month!

OOP's I forgot the most important news!!!!!!

A week ago last Friday Denzel's boss called him into the office and told him they had just fired Larry (Denzel's supervisor). They then asked Denzel if he would take over as the supervisor! He said "Yes". Bear, the other guy he works with gave his notice one week before, so Denzel needs to hire 2 new people this week to work for him. So for now he is on 24 hour call and 1 man short during the day. He got a nice raise and is very excited to get things under control. I am so proud of him. His boss said she was surprised that he wasn't the supervisor when she started working for the company. It couldn't happen to a harder working guy! Later!

What happened to April?

The last time I posted it was March and now it is almost the end of April! Where does the time go? Here is quick catch up on what has been happening here. Denzel re-built our little wooden trailer. Now it is all metal and painted bright purple (surprise). I have taken up sewing and have almost finished a pair of pants for me. We have worked in our yard and have all the first of season clean up done. The hottub has been leaking so we have that torn apart to try and fix it. I spent about a week getting our taxes completed. It turned out we owed about $700. YUCK!
Denzel played for the Easter Seals Fund Raising Event at the Albuquerque Convention Center. He used the drum machine and his guitar. He did such a wonderful job. I am always so amazed by his talent.
Since it has been a little warmer we decided to shave Neko. Now she is almost white, she is so cute when we shave her. She will sit still but she isn't really sure if she likes it. The other day while we were loading Denzels' equipment we left the door open and I ran in to shut it so she wouldn't get out. After about 5 minutes we opened it again to load more and she came running back in! I had shut her out, scary.
Griffin down for a quick weekend visit because I was so lonely. It was so nice to see him. We got to surprise Yumi, she called from a resturant as we were coming home from the airport to pick him up. We went to the resturant and Griffin went in and found her and Ryo. They were both very surprised.
This last weekend we were very busy but found sometime to go to the flying field on Sunday. There wasn't anyone there so I had to help him to get off the ground first time he couldn't do it. The Carl one of his flying buddies came and he helped him and he got up! He flew until he ran out of gas (about 1/2 hour). He coasted to the field and had a perfect landing. He loves it and is getting very good. We stayed out at the field in our motorhome and Cheryl and Jessica showed up and decided to spend the night with us. We played card and eat popcorn until midnight. The next morning we woke up at 6:00 am so Denzel could fly. We stayed at the field riding motorcycles and flying kites until about 3:30 pm. It was so much fun. It was Brian's Birthday on the 22 of April. He says he wants a guitar! We are all giving money to help him out. I never knew he was interested in playing music. He will be graduating in July. We are so proud of him. So there you have it, that is where all our time went!

Spring!!!!

I love this time of year! We spent Saturday moving our motorhome out to the property out towards Grants. We will be spending weekends there many times this summer. It was very windy and Denzel did not get to fly. They were pouring a cement slab in front of the office. We helped get that all poured. Then we served everyone home made enchilada pie and apple pie with ice cream. Denzel entertained everyone with his guitar and beautiful voice. What a wonderful group of friends. Sunday was perfect for flying but we had yardwork to do so we headed home Satueday night. We spent about 9 hours cleaning flower beds and scrubbing the pond. We got all the hoses setup. Brians car is running now and out of the backyard. We trimmed the grapevines. Leaves are starting to come on the trees and all of bulbs are blooming. Yumi and Ryo came by for a minute to pick up the clothes washer that Chris and Junko gave them. Yumi asked if she could have her graduation party at our house. Our answer was a huge YES! That will be so much fun! We are so proud of Yumi, she has grown into such beautiful woman. I see so much of her mother in her. She and Ryo are doing very well together, they really love each other and it shows. Tonight we are going to Cheryl's friends and Family concert. Tomorrow night is the monthly meeting with the paraglider club. Then it is Chris's Birthday on Wednesday the 24th. Wish we could be with him to celebrate. We are looking forward to Denzel flying this weekend. Life is GOOD!

Tis the Season.....................

We have both been busy with the events of the season. First we had the Holiday parties with the radio control club, Denzel was in charge of the games. Then the party with the motorized paraglider club, we had a present exchange yummy food and a very good time. Parties and gift exchanges and potlucks at our jobs. Sending Christmas cards, buying present for those people who have birthdays in December Dennis (Denzels brother), Kozue (Yumi's mother) and Yumi!!!! Exchanging cards and presents with our co-workers and neighbors. This is a very busy season but we love it! Denzel has also been very busy trying to keep Brian's and Rochelles cars running. Sadly last weekend Brian's car died, Denzel tried to impress on him the importants of oil.......but the rings are now scrapping the walls of the cylinders. Lessons come hard when you are young.
Last weekend Denzel and I drove up to the top of 19th street and he flew his paraglider without his instructor! He was very happy, we plan to try and fly every weekend that the weather permits. Last weekend was beautiful here, it was 55 degrees. I was outside water our trees and not wearing a coat! I bet I will freeze in Utah now that I am use to this weather.

Good Weekend

Denzel went flying on Saturday, I stayed home and did some housework. It is very nice for him that he can drive. In the afternoon we bought a new sander (old one broke) and some polyurethane for the outside doors. The sun is really hard on them. Sunday morning we took the garage and music room doors off and sanded them. Brian came over to work on his old car. Rio and Yumi came over to do some laundry and work on the car with Denzel. At last they got the transmission off. The fly wheel was broken! Brian will buy a new fly wheel and they will start getting the car put back together. Next weekend we have a party at Denzels work, it is to celebrate the end of summer. It is a swimming party. After the party Denzel is working for a guy to convert air conditioners at his apartments. He says he is making money for Japan! We had so much fun with Nobuko while she was here. I hope they (Junko and Nobuko had fun in Portland. On Sunday it is the Japanese Fall Festival! I love this!

It's State Fair Time!

Denzel played at the State Fair this weekend. He played with Bill and Adam. They did a great job. Then we just walked around for a while. It was loads of fun, Cheryl meet us there. Spent most of Sunday organizing music room and airplane room. Setup the hot tub for the season and got to use it for about an hour, it felt wonderful. Our weather has cooled off alot, so I don't have to spend my time watering outside. Working on the plans to Xeriscape the front yard. PLayed in the music room with Denzel, we sang some Beatle and Linda Ronstat. We also got to listen to all the disks that Chris burnt for us. Now I am back at work and working to finish up several project. Peggy and I are planning a trip to see Jason in the play Guys and Dolls, I can't wait.

At last I answer my questions from Chris......

And now here are the five questions for my mother.

1. Tell me about married life with Denzel (to steal from Matt) don’t use clichés, describe the things I should expect as I grow older with Junko?

I assure you the best really is yet to come. When you have been together as long as Denzel and I it is amazing how safe and content you feel. You don’t have to play any games. You have had so many opportunities to verify that you are going to stand by each other no matter what happens. Which really allows you a freedom to move in any direction you want your life to go, knowing that there is a special person that you can go to and they will understand your heart and support you yet tell you the truth. Basically take the way you feel about Junko and multiply it by 1000! It is wonderful.

2. How has your trip to Japan affected your everyday life? Now that it’s so far in the past what lessons do you think you’ve learned? Do you consider yourself a worldlier person?

YES! I think the number 1 thing is now I will not be afraid to travel in another country. I know this sounds really silly but I now know that people in other countries are just like us. They have jobs, children, yards, pets, they hurt, love just like us. They just do all these things in different ways, and those ways are their traditions and they love and honor them just the way we love and honor ours. When I went I didn’t really know how I would feel, I mostly wanted to minimize the differences. I found the most interesting part of the trip for me was to see the differences, understand them and enjoy them. I definitely feel more worldly, I have lived with a real Japanese family for 6 weeks and I learned so much about myself through them.

3. What did you want for your future when you were a child? Do you think you’ve achieved it? If not, are you happy with what you’ve achieved?

When I was a child I wanted to grow up to be a ballerina or a bride! I was always so amazed how my children seemed to be so clear about what they wanted to do with their lives. I am pretty content with what I have done with my life. I do have some regrets, I wish I would have realized how important money is in our lives. I should have worked much harder in school, gone on to college much sooner. I should have looked aimed much high for myself and for my spouse. I had such a narrow view of what was possible. I wish I could have provided better for my family. Am I happy with where I am? Yes, but I want to retire we can enjoy our time together. Both of my parents died before they could enjoy retirement so I really want to have it.

4. Out of all the friends you’ve had who do you miss the most? Would you contact them if you could?

I think the friend I would like to contact most would be Nyla. She died of breast cancer and she never let us know she was dying. I found out six months after she was gone. She was not my best friend, she was very sweet and very unreasonable. I do miss her because I never really got a chance to say goodbye.

5. You often say that I turned out very well, but I know in the past I was a terrible disappointment to you. Do you think my drug days were necessary for me? If you had the chance to go back and set me down a different path would you?

I do not think that your drug days were necessary for you. I think you, like me when I was young, didn’t see your own self worth so you chased other things. I think it slowed down your finding who you really are. You never really applied yourself to school and I think if you had you could have done amazing things. It is hard to watch a unskilled child failing, but it is heartbreaking to watch an extremely talented child failing. All it took was for you to get focused as soon as you did you were off and running. You know we are so alike.

This has been a really busy week. I am really looking forward to the weekend. We are going tomorrow to get a unit installed in our vehicle that you breath into and it checks if you have been drinking. This will allow Denzel to get a drivers licence. We have a court date on Tuesday at 2:00. I hope everything goes well, it would really made Denzel happy. I have an appointment with a lady from a middle school to look at the theater lights. I hope she decides to buy them, it is such a shame that they are not being used. I have lots of home stuff I want to get done during this 3 day weekend. I really wish I could be in 3 places at once. I would have loved to see Chris, Junko, Jason and Dana in Wyoming. I also wish I could be in Utah helping my friend Griffin move into his new house. I will try and win the lottery on Saturday wouldn't that be nice.

What a nice weekend.

I love it when a weekend makes you feel rested and happy. It is so much easier to come back to work, as you can tell I did not win the lottery. It is now up to 85 Million, I will try again on Wednesday. I tried to contact Jason and Dana on Friday night to wish them a Happy Aniversary! It has been 5 years! I am so happy that our children have found such wonderful partners. Neither one of the boys are easy to live with I am sure, but their wives are hanging in there! What stong and wonderful women. We have all the items ready to mail to Chris and Junko. Still working on Jason and Dana, if anyone has a wonderful idea please let us know. Chris, thanks for the questions, I will answer them tonight or tomorrow. Events for the weekend were jam session party, karaoke after at a club. Cleaning house and creating gifts, shopping for a birthday for a 2 year old, attended the birthday party which turned out to be so much fun we stayed all evening. Thanks for going Yumi! Got time to visit with Beau, Yumi, Peggy. Sunday got stuff placed on ebay, visted with Cheryl and Jessica. Went shopping for school supplies for Jessica, spent my recognition bucks from work at Hastings we got $122.00 worth of used cd's. I will be listening to great music all week! Sat on the patio until 10:30 pm Jessica drew animal with gel pens on black paper. She is quite the artist.

TGIF

I had a great time last night volunteering at KNME, Peggy and I took phone pledges. Tonight we are going to a party where Denzel is going to play guitar in a band. I hope my sister can meet some really nice guy. That would make me so Happy! Today is Jason's and Dana's 5th wedding anniversary. The traditional present for the fifth is wood. I haven't decided what to send them.......I am such a bad Mom/Mother-in-Law. Now that they are farther away I will have to plan presents better since they need to be mailed. This weekend I hope to clean house, work on a airplane and clean the garage. I also want to finish picking the grapes and make some fruit leather. Yeah, weekends are GREAT!

Happy Wednesday!

Denzel and I spent about 2 1/2 hours visiting with Matt. We haven't had time to visit with him in years. He has come to a couple of our gatherings but we nver really had time to visit. Everyone feels very lonely without Jason, Dana, Chris and Junko. It seems that the land of Enchantment is not quite as enchanted as it use to be. It was our eigth day of not smoking and Matt smoked while we talked out on the patio, I was very proud of both of use we did not smoke! I have been working on the RC plane that Rob gave to Denzel. It had a broken tail and needed some covering taped. I have the tail parts built and re-glued. Now it is time to start tearing apart the engine. It is all gummed up inside due to not being used in years and having gas left in it. I hope to finish it before the weekend so we can at least get it running, maybe we can fly it!

Hello from New Mexico

We are going to start posting more regular. I forgot our password for a while and got out of the habit.
Things have been busy since we returned from Utah. What a wonderful trip! Last weekend I had time to get our suitcases unpacked and put away. Denzel has had a problem with some medicine the dentist gave him. He got covered in a rash and has had it for about 10 days. It seems to be going away now but it looked and felt awful. I got my bonus from work for the second half of the year. Denzel got a world war 1 RC airplane and I got a porch swing with a canopy. Our weather has started to cool down now, but my yard is cooked. When we got home from vacation we found all the apples had turned brown on the trees. The grapes were OK but they were ready to pick so we spent last weekend making jam and pancake syrup. I just finished making CD's of all the pictures from the trip, I will be sending them to Chris and Junko, Jason and Dana. We sure miss having the kids around, we were so lucky they were here for so long. We went to Cheryl's Enchanted Mesa Show Chorus concert last Saturday. It was wonderful, there was a group of men who sang a song that I just loved. I need to get a video tape of them singing that song. It was Jessica's birthday before she went to texas to see her sister, but we didn't get together to give her a present. So we gave it to her at the concert. It was a blue boombox CD player, she loved it.

It has been a long week and I am ready to enjoy a relaxing weekend. Last night I cleaned all my summer clothes out of my closet and moved all my winter clothes in. I got my hair re-colored and spent sometime putzing in my house. Denzel did some air-brush painting, his project was a Birthday card for Junko. It is wonderful, he is very talented. I hope he spends more time doing creative things. Cheryl just called and we are going to the Weem's Art Fest tomorrow, should be fun. Happy Friday!!!!!

Hello from the Thompson's

It has been a long time since we posted. Life has been very hectic. Now that we have Junko moved to America, the Bridal Shower, Bachelor party and Wedding completed. Things are slowing down a little. Chris and Junko are moving on the 5th of Oct. Griffin is coming for an unexpected trip (YEAH) on Oct 4th - 7th. We are going to Cheryls' concert on the 4th and Dinner with the Butt-Fan flyers on the 5th. The we are throwing a major party on the 12th. Hey, did I say things are slowing down? Well, really we love it like this. We are so lucky that we have had this time with Chris and Junko. We will miss them when they move. Denzel is still very happy with his job. My job has been very busy and will only get more through the end of next year. The weather has shifted into fall mode which means not so much watering and yard work for us. Life is grand!

Hi Chris and Junko and Jason,

Hope you are all having a wonderful time. Received the wedding invitation and it is beautiful. I assumed it was for you guys since I have not had it translated yet!! If you have any extras please save them so Peggy and several other people can have one. Things have been busy here-the weather has been very hot and we did finally get some rain.
The blue van is fixed. This weekend it gets to be washed and shampooed in the driveway! Sorry to report that the white car still hasn't sold. We are going to park it down by the mall this weekend-hopefully that will help.
My sister, Dana and I are going to get together this weekend to discuss wedding plans. We are thinking later in the afternoon-evening (gloaming) so we can have yard lights and torches.
Denzel's fathers day was great. He loved your card from you and Jason, forged by mom!!!
Did you see the exciting news from Paul-going to Japan and he misses both of your weddings, maybe you could do a third!!
Pretty soon everybody will be in Japan, Intel will have to open a plant over there and we can all live and work there!!!

Love you guys, miss you and hope you are having fun.

Mom and Peggy

Hey Mr. & Mrs. Grizzly

I'm glad everything is going smoothly for you two. It was great to read your entries in your live-journal. This is really cool !! It was neat because most everything that you are talking about I know because I lived it in Japan !! Tell Junko's family that I am thinking about them and all the good times I had last year in their country. We are having a blast here. I arrived on Saturday night at 10:00 p.m. and was coming down the escalator when I glanced and thought I saw a girl that looked like Yumi - and it WAS Yumi !! She had driven to the airport and wanted to be the first one to see me !! - How cute is that. Suzanne, Denzel, Jason and Ryan were looping outside. After we got home I had a WAAAAAAAH on my first night in Albuquerque - surprise, surprise !! Dana was the Griffin-sitter. She stayed up with me and sang karaoke until 5:00 a.m. Saturday we went to Rob's house and moved a sleeper-sofa into his extra bedroom. It was too big to move down the hallway so we ended up taking it through his bedroom window. Then we stayed at his house and had dinner and watched 5 episodes of 'Queer As Folk'. Got home at 4:30 a.m. Sunday we worked out in the yard pulling weeds and washing the white car to get it ready to sell. Then Yumi called and was 'in the mood for a party' so we had everyone over and did karaoke. Jason's co-worker Lauren came over and joined us. We had a blast. Me & Suzanne stayed up all night until about 9:00 a.m. the next morning.
Then Yumi woke up and joined us in the music room. Monday we just hung around and I went into mini comas while Denzel helped Yumi install a CD player in her car, and also helped Ryan fix his thermostat in his car. Then Rocky came to spend the night on their way from Oklahoma to Hurricane, UT. They have two cute little boys - Jeffrey and Jerum. We were pretty mellow and went to bed at midnight. Got up at 6:00 and drove Denzel to work so I could see the apartment complex where he spends his days !! It is only 9:30 a.m. and I have been dressed and shoed-up
for 3 hours already !! I paid my bills, pulled some weeds in the yard, covered the trampoline, read your live journal, replied twice !! (first time I lost all data) !! and it's my !@#$%^^ birthday !! If I have to key this in again I am going to start charging by the keystroke !! We are going to go to Noda's today for lunch to see Yumi at her work. I have never been so I am excited about it. Well, that is the update so far for my NM trip. Hope to keep you informed as the party continues.

Luv' ya,
Griffin

What the heck happened to my week...Or YEAH it is my Saturday....if your Denzel.

This is the second time I am writing, the first time I went into moods and lost everything! Here we go. This week has been a pain at work, anything that could break did and I have spent all week doing fixes. Now I have all of my work to get done, things are looking better but I feel frazzled. Last Sunday my sister and I did the 5K run/walk for the zoo. We finished in 49 minutes and 49 seconds! Then we went to zoo and hung out for the rest of the day. I have been going through my clothes in my closet trying to get rid of clothes I just never wear. I think a woman has a harder time with this than man. Denzel is the voice of reason, I am all done with my levis. Tonight I need to get paperwork filled out for Chris and Junko. Tomorrow we are going to Rob's for a while and helping Chris move. Saturday Chris wants to have a party for Paul (he graduated ya know) at our house. Sunday is Mothers Day and I hope to get to visit with everyone at my sisters house.

Had neighbor Juan come over and analyze the problem with the blue van tonight. Found axle shaft which was replaced about Christmas has failed internally. Should be still under warranty from Auto Zone, but they do not warranty my labor, which will be at my own expense. Oh well, I guess I now have three months to fix it. Chris says I could just work five minutes a day and that would be about right timing for him to return from Japan. We're going out to the garage now to play some ping-pong and repair Suzanne's bike tires.

TGIF - - - - Or Sunday if you are Denzel

First let it be know I am very, very tired of the wind. Tonight I get to home and plant some of my flowers I purchased last weekend. This is really the first night that the weather has cooperated for this activity. Tomorrow I have all of my yard jobs planned then I must do some housework. Before I know it Griffin will be here to celebrate our birthmonth. Last night we looked at a car for Rochelle, it looked like a money pit to us, (Oh why did I buy a $300 car!)we suggested she keep looking. I picked up my shirt and number for the Run 4 the Zoo! I am going to get timed for 5K walk/run, I have never done anything like this before I am really excited. My sister is coming over on Saturday night and we will get to bed early and be at the zoo at 8:30 am ready to go. The temp should be about 82 that day. I get to get a tan, get activity points and work for the zoo. After we get to go through the zoo. Ahhhhhh, live is good.

Tuesday - - - - - - or Denzel's Thursday- - - Depends on your point of view.....

Last evening I spent catching up on housework that I didn't do over the weekend. I seem to have an endless stream of paperwork. I am trying to stay up on my housework so I don't have to have a mad cleaning spree before Griffin comes for our birthmonth. I didn't get a chance to plant my new flowers in their pots because it was very, very windy. Everything is looking very good in my yard. I wish the wind would stop blowing so I could spend sometime outside. The evenings are getting longer so I would love to play out in my yard, but the wind is awful this year. Tonight we have Denzel's Paraglider monthly meeting and I have my Weight Watchers meeting. They both start at 7:00 pm so I don't know how it is going to work. Also, my sister is coming over to spend the night because she has an early meeting tomorrow. I love when she does that because we get some sister time alone. Work has been very busy lately, 804 is building to a fever pitch now. This weekend is the run for the zoo. My sister and I are signed up, but of course we will be walking!
